iStock_000008885879XSmallIn Dorset England one of the top Scallop divers around was rescued last week after getting caught in a drift and finding himself over 3 miles from the meeting point he had prearranged with his boat.

Mr Brown was discovered missing on Monday 6th of July by his boat handler after failing to show at the last buoy, the alarm was raised and a search and rescue team were dispatched to find him. He was seen and rescued three hours later after his local knowledge gave him his best hope as he was found swimming towards the shoreline.

Mark Rodaway of the Portland Coast-guard service was quoted as saying “I am very pleased to report the range safety craft Smit Frome found the missing diver.” He also added “He was difficult to locate because he was not carrying a surface detection aid.”

Now here at TheDiveFlag.com we know what the risks of not carrying a surface detection aid is and we see so many of these stories in the news that we like to bring them to your attention.

Getting seen is so important that you need to make sure you have a device that is small and compact when below the surface but visible to the naked eye when above the surface. We hate seeing these stories especially when they unlike this story don’t have happy endings.

Please stay safe and always carry a surface detection aid such as TheDiveFlag.com with you at all times.
