When the dive flag was designed it was done so with the scuba community in mind and it would seem that it has struck a cord with this group as we have had some great feedback. However we know that there are a number of other uses for the dive flag.
Every boat has life jackets just in case of the boat going down or the need to abandon ship and they are normally fitted with a whistle and flashing light, or in some cases it is not quite enough to get attention.
The video below was taken from a coastguard boat when the crew of this ship had to abandon ship during rough sea and struggle to get away from the sinking vestal.
Now we are not saying that the dive flag would have stopped this happening but by them having a device in their life vests once they were away from the vestal they stand a much better opportunity of being seen with a signaling device.
